- Three people, including a child, were killed in a shooting Thursday that occurred inside a Publix grocery store in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. The shooting happened at the store at 1180 Royal Palm Beach Boulevard in Royal Palm Beach.

At least one suspect opened fire at a Royal Palm Beach Publix grocery store, killing one child and two adults, a man and a woman, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office (PBSO). Their identities have not been disclosed.

The department says that the scene is not active and that the shooter was one of the deceased people in the store.

It was confirmed that the shooter was one of the three people who died, but authorities gave no other details on the suspect's identity or how they died.

Law enforcement officials were checking license tags on cars in the parking lot. "Since this is an active police investigation, we can not confirm any additional details".

Royal Palm Beach is a village of about 40,000 people, according to Census Bureau data.

'This was NOT an active shooter situation, ' the sheriff's office stated, without providing any further details. Detectives are on the scene investigating what prompted the shooting. Upon arrival deputies located three individuals deceased from gunshot wounds, one adult male, one adult female and one child.

This was the latest shooting in south Florida in recent days.
