Miller lauded the blog on Twitter on May 4, hinting that a new platform was in the works.

His blog, From the Desk of Donald J. Trump, has been scrapped from the webpage of the former USA leader, senior aide Jason Miller told CNBC on Wednesday.

The page "From the Desk of Donald J. Trump" now redirects visitors to a sign-up form to receive "exclusive updates" from Mr. Trump.

Trump launched the blog in early May, allowing him to post messages to his supporters while he remained suspended on Facebook and Twitter.

Some thought From the Desk of Donald J. Trump was the platform he had alluded to, but Mr Miller confirmed in May that it was not, saying: "we'll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future".

The blog's demise comes after the Washington Post reported the site's posts was shared to Facebook fewer than 2,000 times per day.

Donald Trump has cancelled his own blog, an advisor announced Wednesday, highlighting the ex-president and election conspiracy theorist's struggle to escape the social media wilderness.

That had to cause some Trump rage. But Miller also acknowledged it was "not a new social media platform".

The DHS, Imperial Restrooms, and office of Mr Trump were approached for comment by The Independent. Social engagement across the Web with Trump's blog - a measure of the likes, reactions, comments and shares on some of the biggest social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and Pinterest - peaked at 159,000 interactions on its first day, according to data from the social media analytics firm BuzzSumo.

In his statement, Trump, without citing a source, said tens of millions of his supporters had stopped using Facebook and Twitter "because they've becoming "boring" and nasty" - a claim not backed up by the companies' own data, which shows US usage has stayed steady or increased since Trump left office.

Facebook's Oversight Board recently upheld the platform's decision but ordered Facebook to review it again within six months.

And today, Miller was on Twitter himself trying to spin this shutdown as a positive, retweeting another conservative mouthpiece's suggestion that this is a precursor to Trump joining another platform.
