The locations the guard visited are listed on the healthywa.wa.gov.au website as exposure sites.

This would include any future locations of interest determined in the coming days, health officials said.

At this stage Perth has avoided moving into a lockdown, though Mark McGowan mentioned there will be an update on this tomorrow morning.

Premier Mark McGowan said the state's capital city, which last week emerged from a three-day snap lockdown after reporting one COVID-19 infection, was on high alert and a new lockdown was a real prospect.

Research by the University of Otago found 13.2 in every 1,000 cases can be linked back to hotel quarantine failures in New Zealand.

Contact tracing is underway to contact those travellers who have arrived in New Zealand from Perth since April 27, said the ministry.

Two people were yet to be contacted and attempts to reach them were ongoing, the ministry said.

A flight scheduled to arrive in Auckland from Perth at 5:50am Sunday has been cancelled, but travel to other Australian states and territories is not affected.

"What has saved us from having a lockdown immediately is the fact that during the course of last week when these people were in the community. everybody was wearing masks and we had a very quiet society", McGowan added.

Flights between New Zealand and Western Australia were suspended less than a week later, when the Perth and Peel regions were sent into a three-day lockdown after recording a case of community transmission on April 23.

"There are some additional public health measures we require of people who are or have recently been in Western Australia", said Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield.

The bubble, which followed months of negotiations between the largely coronavirus-free neighbors, was hailed as a major milestone in restarting a global travel industry that has been crippled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

These passengers are considered casual plus contacts and must self-isolate and get tested five days after the exposure.

Four new cases of Covid-19 have been detected at the border, with one case being identified as historical and considered not infectious.

In Perth on Saturday authorities confirmed a hotel security guard and his two roommates tested positive to Covid-19.

One of the positive cases also attended cooking classes at the Perth College of Business and Technology last Tuesday and Wednesday.

So far, 27 had been in touch with Healthline to say they were in the locations of interest at the relevant time.

The hotel quarantine worker, aged in his 20s, is believed to have been infectious in the community for four days, during which time he visited a number of locations including a shopping centre and a Coles.

The risk from this event continues to be assessed as low.
