President Joe Biden used his address to Congress Wednesday to pitch his American Jobs Plan and a new $1.8 trillion American Families Plan that invests in families, children and the education system. Incomplete. Biden requested additional funding, in the immigration bill and budget he sent Congress, for training and investigating misconduct by border agents and immigration officers.

The plan features two years of government-paid, pre-kindergarten education for the country's youths and two years of free community college for young adults, all of it to be paid for with higher taxes on the country's wealthiest people and corporations.

"China and other countries are closing in fast", Biden said on that point.

"If I've heard it once, I've heard it a million times". "We should have no gun violence in this country", she replied.

While showing his determination to defend US interests "across the board", Biden emphasized that a conflict with China is not the intention of the United States and that it will maintain "a strong military presence" in the Indo-Pacific to prevent a conflict. Almost two-thirds of Americans approved of Biden's coronavirus relief package, 64% support his handling of the pandemic, and 58% back his plan to raise corporate tax rates to pay for infrastructure investments, according to an ABC News poll released Monday.

"Now, after just 100 days, I can report to the nation: America is on the move again", Biden told a joint session of Congress, touting the country's progress in recovering from the devastating impact of the pandemic.

Like the American Jobs Plan, Biden's most recent proposal is likely to face opposition from Republicans.

Biden proposed to pay for the spending with higher taxes on Americans making over $400,000.

"America will stand up to unfair trade practices that undercut American workers and industries, like subsidies for state-owned enterprises and the theft of American technologies and intellectual property", he said. "They're already paying enough". Owens said Biden didn't talk about his "job-killing" executive orders or the "largest tax increase in a generation". "So let's end cancer as we know it. It's within our power to do it". The speech will come just eight days after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all counts for the death of George Floyd previous year. Keating recently testified during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the proposed Equality Act, which would amend federal civil rights law to protect LGBTQ people from discrimination.

"To all the transgender Americans watching at home - especially the young people who are so fearless - I want you to know your president has your back".

No presidential speech to Congress has been given in this format.

"There is not a single thing, nothing, nothing beyond our capacity". "At the very moment our adversaries were certain we would pull apart and fail, we came together - united".

A majority of Americans approve of President Joe Biden's performance during his first 100 days in office, three new polls found Sunday.

Doug Emhoff, the spouse of Vice President Kamala Harris, will also attend Biden's speech.

Additionally, Biden received the weakest marks for how he has dealt with the migration situation at the US-Mexico border.

He also argued that Biden's presidency is benefiting from an economic recovery for which Trump, a Republican, set the stage.

Chief Justice John Roberts will attend on behalf of the Supreme Court, a court spokesperson told CNN.

"There does not need to be a designated survivor because the Cabinet will be watching from their offices or home, but they will not be joining him for the speech", White House press secretary Jen Psaki said. During his first 100 days, the 46th president has overseen a dramatic rise in America's Covid vaccination programme, which has resulted in a staggering 230 million Americans receiving a jab, while at the same time setting out radical spending programmes that would see around £2 trillion being spent fixing dilapidated airports, highways and bridges.
