"Before if someone got sick from a contact at work and came home, there might have been one or two other people in their family who caught it".

As of Sunday, the country's financial capital had a caseload of 6,27,651 cases, including 12,783 deaths, with the active cases being 75,740.

The death occurred in an undisclosed Southern Interior city this January and will be included in the B.C. Centre for Disease Control surveillance report later this week, but little more will be made known about it.

Meanwhile, the number of people sent to home isolation decreased to 39,78,420, while those shunted to institutional quarantine went up to 30,398.

Broken down by health region, this equates to 466 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 632 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 82 in the Island Health region, 206 in the Interior Health region, 104 in the Northern Health region, and one new case in a person who normally resides outside of Canada.

There are 484 people in hospital due to the virus, with 158 in Intensive Care.

On Monday, 71,736 patients recovered from COVID-19, including 13,674 recoveries from Pune, which is the highest such number in the state, he added.

Previously, the youngest person to die from COVID-19 in B.C. was a toddler under the age of two whose death was announced just last week.

In 15 out of 36 districts in Maharashtra, the number of people getting discharged is much higher than patients getting admitted in hospital for Covid- 19, which is a "satisfactory and comforting indication", state medical education minister Amit Deshmukh said here on Monday.

To date, 1,635,372 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C., 89,035 of which are second doses.

She says the coroners were able to link this death, though she adds no details are being shared because of privacy concerns.

"We all, right now, need to continue to do those things that prevent our transmission of the virus from us to somebody else", she said.

"That means to stay local in our communities to reduce the number of contexts we have to always use our layers of protection".

"All of us should celebrate every vaccine dose given", she said. We won't censor or delete comments unless they contain off-topic statements or links, unnecessary vulgarity, false facts, spam or obviously fake profiles.
