"While a suspect is still at large it appears this is a domestic situation that is isolated and there is no risk to the general public", the Austin Police Department said in a statement.

Around 2:30 p.m., the police said the suspect was still at large and asked residents to shelter in place. "We are concerned that he might possibly take a hostage and be himself sheltered somewhere waiting for us to leave". An official said it wasn't known if the suspect was still in the city. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is also helping search for him. No reports of other patients at this time.

Police know the identity of the gunman, according to a report by KVUE-TV in Austin.

Police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at Great Hills Trail and Rain Creek Parkway at about 12 am local time on Sunday.

ATC EMS said that three people at the scene died.

According to the police chief, the victims of the Sunday shooting are two Hispanic women and one Black man. He said Broderick knew the victims but didn't elaborate on how or provide a motive for the shootings. Police said a child is safe and with authorities. Later Sunday, law enforcement began leaving the area. Police shut down a road, with patrol cars and police tape blocking it off. And in the two weeks after, six died in an apparent familicide in Texas and seven in a SC attack, including the gunmen. Less than a week after the Georgia shootings, 10 were killed at a supermarket in Boulder, Colo.
