The monarch, 94, drove from Windsor Castle to the nearby Frogmore Gardens on Friday to walk her dogs, marking the first time she's been seen since Philip's death on April 9 at the age of 99.

"I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her", he said in tribute.

His death has left a "huge void" in the "stoic" Queen's life, her son, Prince Andrew has said.

Though the brothers have reportedly been in contact since Harry's return to the United Kingdom, it's understood that the royal family wants to avoid "deepening divisions".

Because at every stage of the proceedings on Saturday, Prince Philip has made his mark. Members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Air Force will all be in attendance.

Bullen added of the late Philip: "He spoke of being this real guardian around the queen".

6 a.m. ET: Philip's coffin will be moved from the private chapel at Windsor Castle, where his body now lies, to the Inner Hall in preparation for the procession.

Images of a modified Land Rover designed by the Duke of Edinburgh to carry his coffin have been revealed.

The Queen will have one final moment with Prince Philip before the funeral with Her Majesty expected to pause for a silent moment on her way to the ceremony where she will be able to see the coffin before the procession begins. They will all be dressed in civilian clothes.

He also processed behind the Queen Mother's cortege in 2002.

The mourners include Prince Harry, Prince William and his wife Kate, and the four children of the Queen and the duke, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

In addition to those taking part in the procession, other guests joining Queen Elizabeth in the chapel include Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Zara and Mike Tindall, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Sarah Chatto, and more.

Armed forces bands will play hymns and classical music before the funeral service, which will also be preceded by a UK-wide minute of silence.

The congregation will wear masks during the service.

Philip was deeply involved in the funeral planning, and aspects of it reflect his personality, including his love of the rugged Land Rover.

An employee from the local branch of Waterstones tweeted: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we'll be opening a little late today!" Among the readings will be Ecclesiasticus 43 and John 11.

The Duke of Edinburgh's "unwavering loyalty" to the Queen will be praised at the ceremony in Windsor, as well as his "courage, fortitude and faith".

Full details of the order of service are to be released later in the week, but there will be a small choir of four singers.

No members of the Royal Family will give a reading, and attendees have also been forbidden from singing. The vault, set beneath the chapel, was built by George III, who is one of several kings buried within.

Inside the Gothic chapel, the setting for centuries of royal weddings and funerals, the service will be simple and sombre.

Queen Elizabeth II was just 13 years old when she met the then-18-year-old Prince Philip in 1939.

Born in 1921 in Greece as Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, his family was forced into exile when the Greek monarchy was overthrown by a military revolt when he was still a baby.

William and Harry's cousin Peter Phillips stood between the princes as they prepared to escort the coffin to St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
