Previously, US President Joe Biden's two dogs, Champ and Major, stole headlines when the pair appeared to be purposefully shipped back to the family compound in DE after Major nipped at a Secret Service agent.

Major, she added, had been "surprised by an unfamiliar person and reacted in a way that resulted in a minor injury to the individual".

Michael LaRosa, press secretary to first lady Jill Biden, confirmed the incident to CNN and wrote it off as a "nipping". LaRosa said the worker was seen by the White House Medical Unit "out of an abundance of caution" before returning to work without injury.

Earlier this month, Major also caused a minor injury to someone at the White House, and both dogs, Major and Champ, headed to DE for what White House press secretary Jen Psaki called a "previously planned trip". Champ, the older of the two, joined the Bidens in late 2008.

In a recent interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, Biden defended his canine companion and said Major was receiving additional training at their family home in Delaware.

Following the first incident, Biden disputed the idea that the pup had been banished away after the incident.

Major, a 3-year-old rescue, was kept on a leash as aides took him and his brother Champ out onto the White House South Lawn for a walk.

Among them was MSNBC's Joe Scarborough who, on his show Morning Joe on Tuesday, repeatedly suggested Major be sent to "dog Jesus".

"You turn a corner, and there's two people you don't know at all, and he moves to protect", Biden said. "The dogs will come and go", Psaki said last week, confirming that they had returned to the White House from Delaware. "Eighty-five percent of the people there love him".

The dogs met the Bidens two weekends ago at Camp David in Maryland and came back to Washington on March 21. The couple adopted Major in 2018 from the Delaware Humane Association.

In November, Biden slipped while playing with Major and injured his foot, necessitating the temporary use of a walking boot.
