The suspect who reportedly has a criminal record, no updates are given into his condition.

"After he did the stabbings by the library, essentially chaos ensued; I saw his standoff with police, he fled the scene and the police started chasing him, cornered him, and brought him to the ground". We think we know who, when, how and where.

Yannick Bandaogo, who was arrested at the scene, is accused of carrying out the attack at the Lynn Valley library in which one woman in her late 20s died. "Especially in broad daylight I've never felt unsafe here until now.it's a little bit unsettling".

The stabbings took place in the afternoon in a quiet, upscale neighbourhood of the Pacific coast city, causing national shock in Canada.

"It's really shocking and upsetting, and we're still trying to process what happened, really". It's not always in those big spaces where you hear about the bombings and shootings.

A family embraces at a makeshift memorial outside the Lynn Valley public library. That victim is a woman, ' police Sergeant Frank Jang said in a news conference broadcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. He said the accused man has had interactions with police in the past. "Obviously, the question is why did this happen", Jang told reporters standing in front of the library where the attack occurred. "We should now know why", Zhang said.

"Everything little thing is important on this one. If you heard anything, if you were here and you saw the man that was taken into custody, if you heard him saying anything or whatever the case may be, we need you to come forward".

Andrew Cocking, who lives 500 meters (about a quarter-mile) from the library, told AFP the area where the attack took place was generally very quiet.

On Sunday morning, flowers were placed by citizens near the scene of the crime and a sign that reads "Lynn Valley Strong" was placed among them.

Susie Chant, member of the B.C. legislature for North Vancouver-Seymour, said she arrived at the scene shortly after paramedics on Saturday. "Until today, it was unimaginable that such a senseless act of violence could have occurred in the very heart of it", it continues.

"My heart is in North Vancouver tonight", the Canadian Prime Minister said in a tweet to the families of the victims, adding "To all those affected by the violent incident in Lynn Valley, know that all Canadians sympathize with you and wish a speedy recovery for the wounded".
