Earlier, Anthony Fauci, the USA top COVID-19 expert, stated the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) would be revealing its new guidelines "soon" for individuals who were vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.

Being fully vaccinated doesn't prevent you from taking precautions outside of the house, however.

"We know that people want to get vaccinated so they can get back to doing the things they enjoy with the people they love", Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the CDC director, said in a statement. "CDC recommends that you do not travel at this time", the CDC said on its website.

"The guidelines will advise the vaccinated to continue to wear masks in public and keep a good physical distance from others", the outlet reported, citing infectious disease expert Dr. William Schaffner, who said masks "work" and play a key role in fighting virus variants.

She added, "Everyone, including those who are vaccinated, should continue with all mitigation strategies when in public settings".

Here's a look at the CDC's guidance for visits between people who have been vaccinated and those who haven't, with specifications for circumstances of the unvaccinated people to determine the level of risk that socializing poses.

Walensky said the CDC will update the guidance on what vaccinated individuals can do safely as more people get the vaccines but until then the focus should be on protecting people who aren't vaccinated from contracting the virus.

Some 59 million Americans have now received one or more vaccine doses - about 23% of the adult population - and the immunization rate has been steadily rising after a shaky start.

Although vaccinations are accelerating, CDC estimates that just 9.2% of the US population has been fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine that the FDA has authorized for emergency use.

While the new guidance will come as welcome news, particularly for the elderly who are now free to visit with their healthy children and grandchildren, many restrictions have not changed.

British Columbia Health Minister Adrian Dix said Monday that physical distancing and other public health guidelines will be around for some time.

Drug manufacturers are in the process of dramatically ramping up the production of all three vaccines, and the Biden administration recently announced an unusual partnership through which the drug giant Merck, which failed to develop a Covid-19 vaccine, will help to manufacture Johnson & Johnson's.

Those circumstances that require extra precautions include being in public, or around unvaccinated people from more than one household, or being around someone who lives with someone with increased risk. "Fully vaccinated people should still watch for symptoms of COVID-19, especially following an exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19".

The unchanged recommendations on traveling discourage unnecessary travel and calls for getting tested within a few days of the trip.

Avoid medium- and large-sized gatherings.
