Pak to play second Test match of SA series with same squad Pakistan eye first series win over Proteas in 17 years

The last game of the Test series between Pakistan and South Africa will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium (Rawalpindi) between this Thursday (4th February) and upcoming Monday (8th February).

Pakistan cricket selectors have retained the same 17-member squad announced for the first match against South Africa in the second Test as well, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced today.

The home side are unchanged from the seven-wicket first test win in Karachi, with talk in the build-up from coach Misbah-ul-Haq of potentially playing an extra seamer coming to nothing. South Africa must improve their batting show after suffering twin collapses across the two innings.

South Africa were behind the required run rate at the time of the stoppage, and therefore Pakistan won.

Babar Azam, who captained Pakistan for the first time, said the win was much needed after they went down heavily in both Tests away to New Zealand in December and January.

He added: 'We have been telling the players to be confident.

Faheem Ashraf, Yasir Shah, Nauman Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali.

And de Kock knows his batsmen have to do better than the two scores of 220 and 245 at Karachi.

His tenure was set to end after the now-postponed Australia series, but that timeline has been brought forward to the conclusion of the second Test against Pakistan.

Captain Quinton de Kock had two below-par knocks, while experienced Faf du Plessis clearly struggled to negotiate the spin of Shah and could score only 23 and 10.

South Africa: Quinton de Kock (captain), Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram, Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Kagiso Rabada, Dwaine Pretorius, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Rassie van der Dussen, Anrich Nortje, Wiaan Mulder, Lutho Sipamla, Beuran Hendricks, Kyle Verreynne, Sarel Erwee, Keegan Petersen, Tabraiz Shamsi, George Linde, Daryn Dupavillon, Marco Jansen.
