Instagram is not letting some users share feed posts as Stories

Your Instagram stories could soon be free of duplicated posts Instagram confirms it’s working on a “Vertical Stories” feed

In the immortal words of Derek Zoolander (who would have definitely loved Instagram), "who am I?" "During this test, you won't be able to add a feed post to your story".

In a new trial, Instagram is disabling the ability to share posts from your feed on your stories, in a possible major blow to artists, small businesses, and activist groups.

Puzzi told TechCrunch that he found the option while examining Instagram's backend code, and that it's not live yet. The company has also confirmed to Social Media Today that, "there is no plan to roll this change out more broadly at this stage".

"This is an early prototype and is not functional".

"This is an early prototype and is not now testing on Instagram", a company spokesperson told us. Last week, Instagram began sending out a notification to select users that notes that the platform is testing a change to "Sharing to Stories". In contrast, TikTok's feed is vertical, so users swipe up to get to the next piece of content. After introducing Reels a year ago, Instagram is reportedly testing another TikTok-like feature to enhance their overall user experience. "The goal of our test is to better understand how people feel about this type of content, and ultimately improve the stories experience". Facebook-owned photo-sharing platform allows users to share their friends' feed on their story posts, this was used by any user to promote their friends' account and pages because compared to feed stories have a bigger reach to the Instagram audience.

What's with all the tinkering, Instagram? With Reels, the platform clearly wanted to replace the short video platform in the country.

As TechCrunch points out, the vertical format of Stories could be a first step to unifying Instagram's video content. The company is doing so after hearing from the community that they want to see fewer feed posts in Stories.
