Hawk was booked into the DeKalb jail on one count of murder, police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said in a statement.

It's the latest, and darkest, run-in with the law for Hawk, according to the AJC.

Silento - real name Ricky Hawk - was arrested and taken in to custody by the DeKalb County Police Department earlier today in relation to the death of his cousin Frederick Rooks on January 21.

The "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" rapper was arrested Monday for allegedly murdering Frederick Rooks after an investigation into the man's death. according to the DeKalb County Police Department.

According to the paper, police responding to a shots fired call at 3:30 a.m. on January 21 found Rooks dead at the scene "with multiple gunshot wounds". At the time, investigators believed Rooks knew the residents at one of the houses on Deep Shoals Circle, where his body was found.

Rooks was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime and authorities say he was shot in the face and leg. They searched for the culprit by looking into ring camera video from neighbors, which caught several cars leaving the scene.

The motive is yet to be determined. Back in August 2020, he was arrested following a domestic disturbance. He was charged with inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and later released.

Richard Hawk, the rapper better known as Silento, was arrested on Monday in Georgia on felony murder charges. He was released on is own recognizance the same day.
