Schumer to McConnell: Allow Trump impeachment vote

BREAKING: McConnell Reportedly Believes Trump Committed Impeachable Offenses and Is ‘Pleased’ House Democrats are Moving Forward You Could Be Getting Another Stimulus Check By The End Of February

McConnell, once one of Trump's most powerful allies, now reportedly plans to never speak to him again in the wake of Wednesday's deadly insurrection at the US Capitol.

Just a week before Trump is set to leave office, the House plans to vote Wednesday on an impeachment article charging the lame-duck incumbent with "incitement of insurrection" against the US government.

The aide also said some moderate Democrats worry that impeachment would "harden Trump's base and turn him into a martyr instead of keeping him on his heels with a fractured GOP".

The New York Times has a stunning new report that Democrats pushing to impeach the president of the United States have an ally in the top Republican senator.

Dershowitz added that "the Constitution specifically says the president shall be removed from office upon impeachment". President Trump, Democrats and some Republicans pushed for the higher $2,000 payments but negotiations fell through.

During a press conference on Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) urged McConnell to reconvene the Senate in order to begin the trial immediately after the impeachment article is transmitted by the House, dismissing the Kentucky Republican's claim that the upper chamber's rules prohibit such a move without the consent of all 100 senators. "But he has made clear in private discussions that he believes now is the moment to move on the weakened lame duck, whom he blames for Republicans losing the Senate", the newspaper reported.

On Monday, Mr. Biden telephoned Mr. McConnell to ask whether it was possible to set up a dual track that would allow the Senate to confirm Mr. Biden's cabinet nominees and hold a Senate trial at the same time, according to officials briefed on the conversation who disclosed it on condition of anonymity.

Speaking to Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures", Dershowitz first said that even if Trump is impeached for a second time, the Senate will not be able to hear a trial because Trump would be out of office by the time that were to happen. "And that's what we hope McConnell will do". "Our nation was founded precisely so that the free choice of the American people is what shapes our self-government and determines the destiny of our nation". Trump would be convicted by the current Senate.

With the confirmation of Democrats controlling all three branches of government, this "Blue Wave" is expected to create trillions of dollars in new stimulus measures once Biden enters the White House later this month.
