LG kicks off CES 2021 by teasing its upcoming LG Rollable smartphone

This could be our first look at LG’s rollable smartphone Look at This Crazy LG Rollable Phone

But we may soon start seeing what comes after.

According to a report in Gizmochina, while LG did not go into much of a revelation regarding the new product, it is not surprising since CES is not typically a place where LG announces its smartphones.

Details about the device remain thin on the ground now, but it seems that it has been trademarked the LG Rollable. The concept is part of LG's "Explorer Project", which aims to deliver devices that are distinctive and feature "unexplored usability experiences". It's now merely a part of LG's Explorer Project that examines ways to "breathe new life into what makes a smartphone". Fair play to LG for rolling the dice though (geddit?).

The LG Rollable has a smooth scrolling screen that rolls out to expand the phone.

As you can see in the GIF below, LG Rollable is a unique smartphone with a resizable screen at the helm. While we're intrigued by LG's latest concept, we have a lot of questions about how it works.

"The portable 6.7-inch AMOLED Rollable Display re-defines the standard form of a smartphone".

Do you press a button to switch between phone and tablet modes? The LG Wing was the first and now they are following up with Rollable.

These questions and many others will hopefully be answered later this year when/if the LG Rollable makes it to market.

The company first teased it was working on a smartphone with an expandable screen at the LG Wing launch event past year.

Full specs have yet to be confirmed, but TCL did share a few details about its rollable phone.
