The U.S. has for the first time recorded more than 4,000 deaths in one day from complications of COVID-19.

The Florida Department of Health on Thursday reported 19,816 cases-surpassing the previous record set the day before of 17,783.

Thursday, the third consecutive day of record US deaths, was the deadliest so far, with 4,085 COVID-19 fatalities, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. More than 132,000 people nationwide are hospitalized with COVID-19.
