Santa Claus, also known as Father Christmas, is a fictional character who is said to bring gifts to the homes of well-behaved children on the night of Christmas Eve.

Whitmer spoke with Santa through zoom during her latest virtual meeting, and Santa said he, the elves and the reindeer have followed all of the COVID-19 safety precautions and can make the trek from the North Pole. However, two days later, both learned they had tested positive for the virus.

He said that both of his children were part of the estimated number that had taken their photo with Santa.

Gretchen Whitmer is assuring children that Santa will still be able to deliver presents to kids this year during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizer Matt Dufour told Morinville Online that Santa will be waving at the kids, who can give Santa their Christmas letters, let him know what they want under the tree and even take some socially-distanced pictures with him. More than 200 students and several staff members are quarantining through the end of the year after being exposed to the coronavirus at Lowndes County schools and out in the community.
