Bryson DeChambeau gets two more rounds after making the cut on the number, and then revealing he felt so shaky Thursday night that he had an additional test for the coronavirus.

Pre-tournament favourite DeChambeau was already a long way from the lead when he arrived at the par-four third (his 12th hole) at Augusta National. He played the first dozen at 3 over, leaving him a whopping 10 strokes behind Ancer and three others at the top of the leaderboard.

DeChambeau lost his ball when he hooked it left of the third fairway, apparently into wet, muddy rough.

Defending champion Tiger Woods began the third round just four shots off the lead but could only manage a 72 to slip out of contention.

SHOT OF THE DAY: Justin Thomas hit a pitch from pine straw left of the eighth green that rolled over the huge mounds, past the pin, and then rolled down another slope toward the hole for a short birdie putt. "But I'm still happy with the way I'm swinging it, how I'm controlling the ball and everything I'm doing".

Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau and PGA Championship victor Collin Morikawa also finished even after two rounds and snuck in above the cut line.

When he felt dizzy in the start of the second round Friday, DeChambeau anxious he might have the coronavirus.

McIlroy got off to a strong start with a birdie at the second, where he blasted out of a greenside bunker to seven feet and made the putt.

The likes of Jon Rahm, Paul Casey, Bryson DeChambeau and Tiger Woods are now on the back nine completing their second rounds before the halfway cut will see the top 50 and ties through to the final 36 holes. But I had to do the right thing and make sure there was nothing more serious than that. I think I know how to get around it, even though I hit very long clubs. It's more of just very dizzy, and I've got a pain in my stomach, so I don't know. "I just feel kind of boring and numb out there, just not fully aware of everything, and making some silly mistakes for sure".

"Let's just say he saved me a couple of shots", Rahm said of Olazabal.

'It's one of those things where it's golf.

"But at the end of the day you have to simplify it as much as you can".

Among those six that are now at -5 are some of the most familiar names in golf as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka all remain within striking distance of a potential win. The last group was finishing up its 15th hole. "I felt like I was swinging my irons pretty well".
