Houston told parishioners that the church fired the preacher due to "moral failures", but he'd failed to specify what exactly Justin Bieber's preacher had done.

In a statement, Brian Houston, Hillsong Founder and Global Senior Pastor, announced that they are launching an independent investigation into the inner workings of the Hillsong NYC/East Coast church.

In a brief appearance at Hillsong NYC's Sunday streaming service, Brian Houston expressed gratitude for the team of leaders at the Manhattan church and said they were not only supportive of the decisions made, "but were part of the process". He added that the decision was not lightly done.

Lentz is well known for having close relationships with celebrities, including Justin Bieber, Hailey Baldwin Bieber, and Selena Gomez. He summed up that Carl's firing comes after ongoing discussions in relation to leadership issues and breaches of trust, plus a recent revelation of moral failures.

Lentz met his wife, Laura, a family friend of the Houstons', in Australia when he attended Hillsong's training program, Hillsong College. He described the years he had with the ministry as the most impacting and awesome chapters of their lives.

In a lengthy statement posted to Instagram, he explained that he "did not do an adequate job of protecting my own spirit..."

"When you accept the calling of being a pastor, you must live in such a way that it honors the mandate".

'I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life and held accountable for that. He added that failure to live such an honorable life requires change to ensure that the standards he mentioned will be upheld.

The affair was not a one-off, either, but a fiery, five-month long pandemic affair, his paramour - a Palestinian fashion designer - subsequently told The Post. "He is not a really great cheater". About meeting him, she said his name was Carl but didn't reveal his last name, and said that he was a sports agent.
