Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richards paused during November 9, 2020's episode, the first to air since Trebek's passing, to share a moving tribute.

The Jeopardy! Twitter page announced that after leading the show for 36 years, the Canadian host and author passed away "peacefully at home" while surrounded by family and friends. "That's what he wanted", said Richards, who also revealed that Trebek taped his final Jeopardy "less than two weeks" before his passing.

Richards concluded with the show's trademark opening - "This is 'Jeopardy!'" - which was followed by a moment of silence on the "Jeopardy!" set with lights dimmed. In an interview in January, Trebek said that he has been rehearsing a message that he will deliver on his final episode.

Jeopardy host Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home on November 8.

Alex Trebek died on November 8 after a lengthy battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The show will air the remaining 35 episodes as they were shot, "in his honor", according to the show's Instagram. He will forever be an inspiration for his constant desire to learn, his kindness, and for his love of his family. Recently, something happened on the show that made us realize why we all love the show and the host himself!

Mike Richards, the executive producer of "Jeopardy", came out to pay tribute to Alex.

Speaking on the "Today Show", Richards shared some insight into how Trebek, 80, spent his last day on Earth.
