Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) boss Elon Musk has fulfilled a promise made two years ago by launching a "Tesla Tequila" liquor brand on the company's website.

The alcohol of Musk's fictional demise, "Teslaquila", is now up for sale on the Tesla website for $250 a bottle.

The new Tesla Tequila, pictured, costs $250 for a 750 mL, lightning-bolt shaped bottle. The "premium 100% de agave tequila añejo" is listed as a sustainably sourced spirit best served as a sipping tequila, according to a product page.

The electric vehicle giant started selling the drink, which comes in a bottle shaped like a lightning bolt, more than two years after its CEO Elon Musk first referred to "Teslaquilla" in a jokey tweet. The company charges just $45 for a similar product - albeit aged for four fewer months - that doesn't include Tesla branding.

The tech billionaire tweeted a pic in which he is seen passed out against a Tesla Model 3 surrounded by Teslaquila bottles. The firm's website now lists the drink, which is priced at US$250 per bottle, as out of stock but also says it will be made available in selected USA states such as New York, California and Washington.

The drink, which is limited to two bottles per customer, comes housed in a bottle shaped like a lightning bolt - the vehicle company's logo.

Well, deliveries were "expected to begin in late 2020" and the store says that it has already gone out of stock for now.

They claim to have secured an order, and many are selling the bottle and stand without the actual drink.
