He added: "I have been humbled and moved by your many messages of love and concern, particularly over the last few days". Pictures has asked Depp to resign from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3 and any sequels.

"My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false", he wrote.

Johnny says he's planning to appeal the court's "surreal judgment" and says he won't let the case define his life and career.

Johnny Depp has been embroiled in a legal battle with the British tabloid The Sun after they referred to the actor as a "wife beater", claiming that he had abused his ex-wife, Aquaman actress Amber Heard.

Warner Bros. has announced the role of Grindelwald will be recast. The future of the Fantastic Beasts franchise remains in flux as the COVID-19 pandemic makes filming anything more hard, expensive, and risky, but when and if the third movie comes out one thing is certain: Johnny Depp won't be there.

The third Fantastic Beasts film had already been through a rather convoluted production process-it originally had a release date of November 20, 2020, and was meant to begin filming in July 2019, but production was pushed back all the way to March 2020.

"Fantastic Beasts 3 is now in production, and the role of Gellert Grindelwald will be recast".

Warner Bros. confirmed the drastic change in a statement to TMZ, telling us. Depp's role as the villain Gellert Grindelwald in the "Harry Potter" prequel series will be recast and the movie still is expected to be released in 2022.

The newspaper claimed to have seen "overwhelming evidence" that Depp had attacked the 34-year-old Heard, while Depp strenuously denies those allegations.

The third movie in the franchise is now filming in the UK.

She concluded: "Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies".

Depp shared on Instagram that he will appeal the ruling. They separated the following year and divorced in 2017.
