"With these contract awards, America is moving forward with the final step needed to land astronauts on the moon by 2024, including the incredible moment when we will see the first woman set foot on the lunar surface", said NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine. NASA says the SLS is the only rocket that can send the space craft, Orion, astronauts and supplies to the Moon in a single mission.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) has reported that the Orion spacecraft that will undertake the uncrewed Artemis I mission has passed both its System Acceptance Review and Design Certification Review.

The static-fire test that lasted two minutes and burnt 6 tons of propellant per second started a fire on the hillside. The Flight Support Booster (FSB-1) will be the foundation for improving future rocket boosters that'll power SLS.

The rocket booster test was for the agency's Artemis moon program.

The SLS boosters are the largest, most powerful boosters ever built for flight. 75% of the rocket's take off power will be coming from them.

The July test of the core of the stage rocket built by Boeing was successful, so it appears like everything is going according to plan seeing that the SLS booster is working rather well for its recent test run.

Northrop Grumman has performed five test firings of the five-segment SLS booster, through its predecessor company Orbital ATK since 2009. The boosters that will be used to launch Artemis I are now being readied at NASA'sKennedy Space Center in Florida. Its success is a nod to NASA's claim that these are the largest, most powerful rocket boosters ever built for flight. The SLS rocket program is called Artemis and is managed at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. SLS will one day transport humans to the moon, Mars, and possibly even further into deep space. "Experience gained there will enable humanity's next giant leap: sending humans to Mars".

The Artemis I mission is now planned for late 2021, and NASA also tweeted a computer animation showing how the spacecraft will launch and release the Orion.
