Player will cost Leeds United and West Ham £20m

Premier League trio battling to sign Robin Koch from Freiburg Leeds United sign Rodrigo for club record £26m fee
Noah Ferguson | 30 August, 2020, 22:10

Spain global Rodrigo and Germany centre-half Koch have both signed four-year contracts and will now join up with their respective country's senior squads for next month's Nations League games.

"For me, I'm really happy, very excited to join the club in this important season for all of us. It was hugely important that they brought one in and I would say they need another to help them through the season".

"Leeds have been working for two weeks nearly on this deal with Valencia".

Leeds United have completed the signing of Spain forward Rodrigo from Valencia for a club record fee. "The Premier League is one of the biggest in the world, wherever you go on holiday, everyone knows the Premier League". How people feel the football there is different from other countries. "It's an important step as a professional but in my life also".

Rodrigo, who can play as a winger or striker, racked up 59 goals in 220 appearances for Valencia, helping the team to the Copa del Rey title in 2018-19. He netted 27 times in 67 games and was a losing finalist in the Europa League in 2013 and 2014 for the Portuguese club before joining Valencia.

He had a brief stint in the Premier League during the 2010-11 season when he joined Bolton Wanderers on loan and made 17 appearances.

Valencia have been forced to sell a number of first-team players due to financial difficulties compounded by the coronavirus crisis.

They won the Championship by 10 points last season to secure their return to the top flight for the first time since 2004, and visit champions Liverpool in their opening match on September 12.
