Boeing's Starliner could launch to the place station in December

Watch Boeing's Starliner spacecraft complete a critical test Boeing Statement on Starliner-1 Crew Assignment

She spent seven years as a CIA technical intelligence officer before her selection as a member of the 2009 astronaut class.

The mission, named Orbital Flight Test 2 (OFT-2), will be Boeing's 2nd endeavor at launching its new astronaut taxi to the Intercontinental Space Station, subsequent a partial failure that prevented the Starliner spacecraft from achieving the station all through the OFT-1 mission in December 2019. She earned her bachelor's degree in physics in 1992 and master's degree in science in 1994.

However, she was removed from the assignment at the last minute without an explanation.

Epps will join astronauts Sunita Williams and Josh Cassada for a six-month expedition planned for a launch in 2021 to the orbiting space lab.

The mission will also be the first operational crewed flight of Boeing's CST-100 Starliner spacecraft on a mission to the International Space Station.

After two months onboard the space station, Behnken and Hurley safely splashed down off the coast of Pensacola, Florida, in August and now SpaceX and NASA are scheduled to launch its first operational crewed flight no earlier than October 23 from Kennedy Space Center pad 39A. The new capsule will present "supplemental on-orbit working experience for the operational teams prior to traveling missions with astronauts", NASA said in the statement.

According to a press release, the Boeing Starliner-1 mission will be Epps's first spaceflight.

No official launch date for Epps's mission has been released-but we're so excited for her.

NASA turned to Boeing, the world's largest aerospace company, and Elon Musk's SpaceX to build capsules and ferry astronauts to and from the space station following the retirement of the space shuttles flights in 2011.

Boeing and NASA at first prepared to fly Starliner's Crew Flight Exam mission in mid-2020, but the mission was delayed after Boeing determined to redo the Orbital Flight Examination.

The US space agency hopes to have commercial operators taking crew to and from the International Space Station up to at least 2024.

A glitch in the mission timing software caused the spacecraft to run to a different time than expected, causing it to start its burns and control movements too early into the flight - burning up fuel that it needed to get to the ISS.
