
Leeds United have signed Valencia forward Rodrigo for a club record £26 million, the club announced on Saturday.
Leeds themselves have been trying hard to keep the player on a permanent deal and reportedly had an offer of £35 million rejected last week.
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has signed Joe Gelhardt, Helder Costa, Illan Meslier and Jack Harrison (on loan) in addition to the 29-year-old winger as they prepare for life in the Premier League.
"For me I'm really happy and very excited to join the club, this is an important season for all of us, coming back to the Premier League" said Rodrigo.
"Leeds have been working on this deal for two weeks with Valencia".
He scored five goals in seven appearances in the Copa del Rey in 2018-19, including the victor in the final against Barcelona, as Valencia lifted the trophy in their centenary year.
Leeds have been quick to welcome their newest recruit by uploading videos to their website of Rodrigo's most important goals with Valencia, one being against Chelsea last season in the Champions League.
Rodrigo has experience in English football, spending the 2010-11 season on loan at Bolton, making 21 appearances and scoring once.
The Germany worldwide made 31 Bundesliga starts among 34 appearances in all competitions for Freiburg last season and helped them finish eighth in the table.
Leeds will face Liverpool at Anfield in their opening Premier League fixture of the season on September 12, live on Sky Sports.
The Spain global spent his youth career at Celta Vigo and Real Madrid before moving to Benfica in 2010.
Rodrigo was born in Brazil but is a Spain global and has 22 caps and eight goals.
