On Thursday, Prof Philip Nolan from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) spoke about the rise in new cases.

Asked what he would say to pub owners wondering if their business will reopen on Monday week, Dr Glynn said he was "very sorry" for the position they are in "but our focus here has to be on public health".

"Mass testing has now taken place in relation to a number of known outbreaks", Dr Ronan Glynn said.
