A tropical depression has formed over the Central Tropic Atlantic.

The Barbados Meteorological Services listed the 11 a.m. position on Wednesday July 22 at 9.9N 43.6W or about 1 770 km (1 100 miles) to the east of Barbados. The record for the earliest time we have seen our 8th named storm was also from the infamous season of 2005 when Tropical Storm Harvey developed on August 3rd, 2005.

By Thursday, the storm is set to become the season's first hurricane, the NHC has said.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50mph or 85km/h.

The storm's center is located about 1250 miles east of the Southern Windward Islands.

Extreme weather conditions such as tornadoes and hail are potential threats to New York City and New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service.

Tropical seven could strengthen into a tropical storm either tonight or tomorrow, the NHC advises.

"How much impact from wind will depend on the strength of the system as it move ashore in Texas", according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. But recent data indicates that Douglas's track could take it ominously near or directly over Hawaii, bringing wind, rain and high surf over the weekend. This wave, moving west-northwest, is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday night.

The possibility of rain showers will continue into Thursday morning and clear up by 5 a.m.

Trinidad and Tobago was devastated by severe flooding in 2017 and 2018 after homes across the country were besieged by flood waters, or damaged by high winds.
