"Today, I'm excited to announce the Google for India Digitization Fund", he said at the Google for India event. Today, people in India no longer have to wait for technology to come to you. "And we are investing in helping Indian businesses go digital and helping Indian workers learn, grow and find better jobs". Pichai said that the funding would be provided through a mix of equity investments, partnerships, and operational, infrastructure and ecosystem investments. Secondly, India's unique needs to be met by products and services.

The Prime Minister termed that interaction "fruitful" and lauded Google's efforts in the field of education, Digital India and digital payments.

Pichai further unveiled Google's Google For India Digitisation Fund, which will be primarily working to invest in localised businesses that use specialised technologies to solve niche areas such as agricultural problems, education and literacy issues, and more.

In its sixth edition of Google For India, held virtually, Google announced its partnership with Prasar Bharati to launch a new initiative as part of its ongoing efforts towards the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. "There's no question we are facing a hard moment today, in India and around the world", Pichai added. To support underserved low-income communities, she also announced a new Google.org grant of $1M Dollars to Kaivalya Education Foundation (KEF) as part of the Global Distance Learning Fund. Prime Minister explored the idea of virtual labs that can be used by students as well as farmers.

Google, founded in 1998 in Silicon Valley, entered India six years later with offices in Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with Google CEO Sundar Pichai and discussed a range of subjects like a new work culture in coronavirus times, data security and cyber safety. The learning platform is available already in seven Indian languages.
