A spokesperson for the cinema said: "Upcoming reopenings remain subject to final clarifications and confirmation in relation to various government Covid-19 restrictions".

The company had previously expected to start reopening theatres, which include Regal Cinemas, on 10 July, but a number of important markets, such as Los Angeles and NY, have not yet given the go-ahead. However, the cinema now has a new reopening date of Friday, July 31.

The UK's largest chain of cinemas has pushed back its scheduled reopening date by three weeks, in response to further delays to the opening of key titles such as Mulan and Tenet.

After originally announcing its plans to reopen in the middle of July, the Cineworld chain has now altered things slightly.

NY is among U.S. states yet to allow cinemas to reopen.

That will include: social distancing throughout the cinema, a limit number of seats in use, hand sanitiser being available, enhanced cleaning throughout the day and staggered film screenings to allow for safe entry and exit of the cinema.

"We know how much you've been missing the cinema and we are excited to welcome you back to Cineworld soon!"

Elsewhere in Norwich, the Odeon cinema at Riverside is due to reopen on Saturday, July 4. "With great films ahead, including "Mulan, ' 'Tenet, ' 'A Quiet Place Part II, ' 'Wonder Woman 1984" and many more, we can't wait to be back".
