You would think that every lyric provider on the face of the Earth would want to partner with Spotify to get their service in front of so many eyeballs.

Spotify Premium Duo is now available in 55 global markets, including South Africa.

Two people can split the cost by joining Premium Duo, and it would save them a few bucks had they subscribed to the music streaming service individually.

Spotify Premium Duo will cost Rs. 149 per month in India, $13 (about Rs. 980) in the United States, and £13 (about Rs. 1,220) in the UK.

If you're a Spotify Premium user already, you can switch to Premium Duo by heading to your account page and changing your subscription type. A Family plan membership is $2 more than Duo and supports up to six accounts. On its website, Spotify says that "with two separate accounts you can both enjoy your own music without having to take turns".

Alex Norström, Spotify's Chief Freemium Business Officer, explained, "Today we are proud to launch Spotify Premium Duo, a first-of-its-kind audio offering for just two people in the same household".

"Lyrics has been one of the most requested features by Spotify users and we're excited to make song lyrics available to listeners in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia". "With two individual Premium accounts, you can both listen independently, uninterrupted and get all of your personalized playlists and features tailored just for you".
