Margot Robbie is set to lead the cast of a female-fronted Pirates of the Caribbean movie. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise films which were backed by Jerry Bruckheimer will be making his return for the reboot film. She would follow it up with Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), the Robbie-led Suicide Squad spinoff that hit theaters earlier this year which, though receiving generally positive reviews from critics and audiences, did fall short of its break-even point at the box office, and is now attached as the writer for DCEU's The Flash and Batgirl.

This new Pirates film is also separate from the reboot that is being developed by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and franchise co-creator Ted Elliot.

Pirates of the Caribbean also marks another franchise win for Christina Hodson.

The Indian Express is now on Telegram. It isn't going to be a spin-off from Jack Sparrow's Story, but will be an all new Original story, with new characters.

Robbie - who has her own production company LuckyChap Entertainment - has had an acclaimed start to 2020 after being nominated for her second Academy Award for her role as fictional character Kayla Popsil in Bombshell. In addition to collaborating with Margot Robbie on Birds of Prey and this new Pirates movie, the women also teamed up a year ago to launch the Lucky Exports Pitch Program, an initiative working to get more female-identifying writers to be hired to write action-centric movies.
