Development of Harry Potter RPG 'on track' as new details leak

Reportedly, the long-rumored Harry Potter RPG is in the works at WB Games-owned Avalanche Software, the studio behind Disney Infinity. Interactive Entertainment purchased and revived in 2017 after its closure in 2016.

The report claims that the upcoming roleplaying game is set to release at the end of next year and will be revealed this year after the reveal of the next-gen Batman game from Warner Bros. The developers at Avalanche confirmed that the leaked footage from 2018 was real, but subsequent leaks have not been.

Set in the 19th Century (1800's) Wizarding World, this 3rd person open-world action RPG game centers around your character with unique abilities who has eared a late acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Bloomberg has shared a report detailing some of Warner Bros.

In early June, CNBC claimed that AT&T was intrigued in marketing off its Warner Bros. gaming division. This is due to J.K. Rowling's recent tweets and essay which have been widely viewed as transphobic. "However, one of the people working on the game stressed that Rowling has very little direct involvement".

Felicia Grady, the managing editor of the popular Harry Potter fan site MuggleNet wrote an e-mail to Bloomberg stating that this controversy is, "likely to diminish some of the anticipation of the game". Those plans were made before Rowling's comments. Interactive may be sold off to another publisher, but for now, development of the Harry Potter RPG remains on track. BBC presenter Lizo Mzimba said the game could be called Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. We might see it at one of the upcoming PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X events.

Warner Bros. has not publicly verified the game's development, but will reportedly reveal it immediately after the DC FanDome function in August.
