Following the launch of two astronauts into space, President Donald Trump delivered remarks in Cape Canaveral, Fla. on Saturday regarding the death of George Floyd and the ensuing protests that have sprung up in major us cities across the country, including Seattle.

"We will stand with the family of George Floyd, with the peaceful protestors, and with every law-abiding citizen who wants decency, civility, safety and security", Trump added. Minnesota's governor activated the state's national guard after four nights of confrontations in Minneapolis, its first full activation since World War Two.

Earlier on Saturday, US President Donald Trump said that the federal government was considering using the military to intervene in the protests.

On Friday, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey declared a strict curfew for the U.S. city after three nights of violent protests over the death of a black man.

"We can not and must not allow a small group of criminals and vandals to wreck our cities and lay waste to our communities", Trump said following another night of widespread looting and arson in Minneapolis.

Swift was responding to Trump's tweet which said, "These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won't let that happen".

"80 per cent of the rioters in Minneapolis last night were from out of state". Trump tweeted after protesters torched a Minneapolis police station.

A viral video shows a police officer, Derek Chauvin, pinning the 46-year-old Floyd to the ground with his knee on his neck for almost eight minutes.

He also called out Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser for not assisting the White House in quelling the protests, which he blamed today on "ANTIFA and the Radical Left".

"At present, we limit exceptions to one critical type of public-interest content - tweets from elected and government officials -given the significant public interest in knowing and being able to discuss their actions and statements", it said. This moment calls for unity and calmness, and we need empathy for the people and communities who are hurting. Floyd died at a local hospital shortly thereafter. The police officer has since been fired and arrested on a murder charge.
