"The churches are not being treated with respect by a lot of the Democrat governors", Trump commented to reporters as he left the White House for a trip to MI on Thursday afternoon.

Trump's push to return churchgoers to pews that have been empty for weeks comes just days after churches in Georgia and Texas, both states with Republican governors, announced that they would close again after experiencing acute outbreaks of the virus after they opened.

Today I'm identifying housing of worship, churches, synagogues, and mosques, as essential places that provide essential services, some governors have identified as essential places that provide essential services.

President Donald Trump has called for the reopening of churches and other houses of worship, declaring them "essential" services.

"The governors need to do the right thing and allow these very important essential places of faith to open right now, for this weekend", Trump said.

"We can all hope that this Sunday, people are allowed to pray to their gods across this country", she said. "I know those houses of worship want to protect them. maybe they can't go this week". "But have left out houses of worship".

Abbott said faith leaders should continue to encourage at-risk members to watch or participate in services remotely, must designate an area inside their buildings for at-risk visitors and keep at least two empty seats between worshipers, although members of the same household may set adjacent to one another. "It's not right. So I'm correcting this injustice and calling houses of worship essential", Trump said during his announcement at the White House. "Any decision to modify specific religious rites, rituals, and services should be made by religious leaders".

"Our big push has been, don't be overly prescriptive", said a White House official ahead of the release.

Dr. Deborah Birx, the coordinator for the White House's coronavirus task force, reiterated that it is possible for people to social distance properly in places of worship. When the Knoxville, Tennessee government began to allow people to go to church again, it told churches, "t$3 he physical taking of communion/sacrament should not be performed due to the serial breaking of physical distancing across a congregation".
