The Seattle Seahawks added another receiver to the mix on Tuesday afternoon, reportedly agreeing to terms with former New England Patriots wideout Phillip Dorsett on a one-year deal.

New England Patriots wide receiver Phillip Dorsett (13) carries the ball during warm-ups prior to an National Football League wild-card playoff game against the Tennessee Titans, Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020 in Foxborough, Mass.

The deal is for one year, multiple media outlets reported.

In Seattle, Dorsett will have the opportunity to play with another franchise quarterback in Russell Wilson, who enjoyed arguably his finest season in 2019 while helping propel the Seahawks to the second round of the playoffs. "That got me extra excited". In three seasons with the Patriots, Dorsett caught 73 passes for 881 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 12.1 yards per reception. But Bill Belichick continually attempted to infuse the receiver depth chart with high-end talent, pushing Dorsett down the depth chart.

Dorsett now joins a Seattle receiver group that includes the likes of wide receivers in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. "Thing to consider about this signing, the potential of a shortened offseason may not be the time to develop another rookie WR", Heaps explained on Twitter.

But judging merely by Belichick's actions while he had Dorsett in New England, then it's likely that Dorsett has a better chance to claim a consistent role out west.
