Cristiano Ronaldo scored for a record-equalling 11th consecutive Serie A game in his 1,000th professional match as Juventus extended their league lead on Saturday with a 2-1 win over basement club SPAL.

SPAL got a consolation through Andrea Petagna, who scored from the penalty spot in the 69th minute.

Ronaldo had an early goal disallowed for offside and Dybala struck the inside of the post before Juventus went ahead.

He celebrated his historic milestone with the opening goal at Stadio Paolo Mazza, finding the net in his 11th consecutive Serie A game.

The win ensured that Juventus, chasing a ninth successive title, stayed top for another week as they went four points clear of Lazio who visit Genoa on Sunday. Quagliarella also managed the same feat last season but he only scored 14. Ronaldo's total, however, includes two games with Sporting CP's B team in 2002 and 2003, leading to a dispute about their inclusion.

Juventus were turning up the heat early in the second stanza with a host of chances and Aaron Ramsey finally doubled their lead on the hour-mark with a chip over SPAL goalkeeper Etrit Berisha from Dybala's through ball.

"It seems to me a great injustice - if the monitor does not work, the referee must decide".

Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini made his first start since being sidelined with a cruciate ligament knee injury last August, playing for 55 minutes in Ferrara.

"I understand that the regulation allows this and (referee Federico) La Penna explained it to me, but I don't agree with it".

"We're taking it slowly, seeing how he reacts", added Sarri. His last league match without a goal was the 1-0 victory over AC Milan on November 10.

Gabriel Batistuta also scored in 11 games in a row but he only scored 13 goals during that run.

Fiorentina also hit the post despite being a man short from the 62nd minute after defender Dalbert tripped Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Erick Pulgar equalised converting a spot-kick with five minutes remaining denying Rossoneri full three points.
