Larry Tesler, the man behind one of our most used computer functions, "cut, copy, paste" passed away on Monday aged 74.

On his website, Larry Tesler described himself as the "primary inventor" of modeless editing and cut, copy, paste.

Xerox, where Mr Tesler spent part of his career, paid tribute to him. "Your workday is easier thanks to his revolutionary ideas". "Larry passed away Monday, so please join us in celebrating him", the company said. Tesler came up with copy-paste in the 1970s while working at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center.

Lawren Gordon Tesler aka Larry Tesler was born on April 24, 1945, in NY.

He worked for blue chip firms including Apple, Amazon and Yahoo.

In the year 1993, Tesler was promoted to the position of chief scientist, a role that was also served by Steve Wozniak, The Verge quoted Gizmodo.

Larry Tesler might not be the most well-known figure in the tech community, but he was instrumental in making the personal computer easier to learn and use. Xerox at the time developed the the mouse and the graphical user interface, helping to display graphics as well as text on a screen. In 1980 he started working for the company, where he remained until 1997. As the Vice President of AppleNet and Apple's Advanced Technology Group, he worked on projects like Lisa and the Newton MessagePad. He was also one of the pioneers of modeless computing, which eliminated the need for different modes within a programme-which triggered user inputs differenty-aiding in adaptability and convenience. Tesler also is credited with creating the "find and replace" and "cut" functions. According to his CV, Tesler left 23andMe in 2009 and from then on mostly focused on consulting work.
