Google said earlier this year that just 0.04% of all Android apps downloaded from Google Play were considered potentially harmful apps - or about 30 million potentially malicious apps. To fix this, Google chose to launch a dedicated application for users who were left with the standalone Android Auto application on Android 10. At I/O, Google has announced the Assistant Driving Mode and a spokesperson confirmed that this new expertise would replace the Auto app's phone interface.

"The App Defense Alliance will protect Google Play Store users from app-based threats, such as malware, spyware and vulnerable applications within the Google Play Store; however, app-based threats are just one aspect of the spectrum of mobile risk, just as the Google Play Store is just one aspect of the mobile ecosystem", the company noted.

As a side benefit, the security firms will also get access to the Google Play Protect malware-scanning engine to check Android apps for suspicious processes. Named "Android Auto for phone screens", the app restores the "broken" Android Auto experience on smartphones running Android 10. The app will add the Android Auto icon on your homescreen, as a temporary solution until Assistant Driving Mode arrives.

The Google Stadia is set to release on November 19th and, ahead of the game streaming service's launch, its companion app is now officially live on the Google Play Store.

You can download Android Auto for phones right now from Google Play store on your Android 10 device if you don't have an Android Auto-compatible head unit. The reason behind that is that the new update for Google Play Services aims to improve the overall performances of the Android operating system and it does that by introducing software tweaks and bug fixes which are tackling various issues that could cause glitches.

Once you've installed and opened the app - which weighs in at a lean 129MB - you'll be greeted with splash page featuring a pretty swish-looking Destiny 2 promo. Now, if you are an Android user then you need to check your phone immediately and uninstall these malicious apps which are created to open backdoors onto a vulnerable device by pulling separate malware apps from other sources. Does it get rid of it completely or let it die eventually?
