WhatsApp has launched the beta version of its app that allows the users to make payments

The Beta version is available for both iOS and Android.
When it is launched, the new WhatsApppayments feature could give popular digital wallet platform Paytm, and other messaging services that already support payments, including the recently launched Tez from Google a tough competition. As per the leaked images, which have been shared, WhatsApp's Payments feature will appear as another attachment options to the current ones which include documents, photos, videos, etc.
India's huge market audience for the messaging app is probably why the beta version was launched there first. Notably, you will be asked to create an authentication pin if you haven't yet used the UPI payments platform.
WhatsApp has been working on support for a payments feature for some time, with support by State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and Axis Bank. Additionally, you will have to create a UPI account (if you don't have one previously) through the UPI app or your respective bank's website/ app.
According to a TechCrunch report, the company is testing a new payments feature in the app's beta version in India that will allow people to send money to other WhatsApp users, excluding merchant accounts.
