Commenting on the death, Phil said: "Just heard the sad news that Fast Eddie Clarke has passed away".

The announcement was made on the rock band's official Facebook page Thursday morning.

"Just heard the sad news that fast Eddie Clarke has passed away", said guitarist Phil Campbell, who joined the band in 1984.

Motorhead announced via its Facebook page on January 11 that guitarist, Eddie Clarke, otherwise known as "Fast Eddie", is dead at the age of 67.

"Fast" Eddie Clarke, the last surviving member of Motorhead's classic 1976-82 lineup, died Wednesday after being hospitalized for pneumonia, according to a post on the band's Facebook page.

"Fast" Eddie Clarke, the last of the members of the classic lineup of Motorhead that included Lemmy Kilmister and Phil Taylor, has died after battling pneumonia.

"Keep roaring, rockin' and rollin' up there as goddamit man, your Motörfamily would expect nothing less!" says the message.

Drummer Mikkey Dee, who is now in The Scorpions, said: "Oh my f***ing God, this is awful news, the last of the three amigos".

Drummer Mikkey had only seen his friend recently and said he was in "great shape". I was looking forward to seeing him in the United Kingdom this summer when we come around with the Scorps [Mikkey's current band, the Scorpions].

"Now Lem and Philthy can jam with Eddie again and if you listen carefully I'm sure you'll hear them, so watch out!"

In his 2002 memoir, White Line Fever, Lemmy recalled: "Eddie used to leave the band about every two months, but this time it just so happened that we didn't ask him back".

Clarke quit Motorhead shortly after the Iron Fist album release. Eddie was soon playing with the band and, over the next six years, they would have their greatest success with albums like their self-titled debut, Overkill and Ace of Spades along with a number of hit singles.
