The President ended the video with a holiday message to the nation.

"I hope everyone is having a great Christmas, then tomorrow it's back to work in order to Make America Great Again (which is happening faster than anyone anticipated)!" the president tweeted in the evening, after a day with his family.

But, as he did during every year of his presidency, Obama wished all of his followers a "Merry Christmas" on Twitter on Monday.

Under the new bill, nearly all Americans will see their taxes go down next year, but many critics feel that the wealthiest citizens benefit the most and at a disproportionate rate.

Trump also took an opportunity to give himself a pat on the back for bringing back the greeting "Merry Christmas", insisting he "led the charge against assault of our cherished and most lovely phrase".

The Washington Post has pointed out that in the 1980s, when Trump was still a wealthy real estate developer, the future president tried to get New Yorke residents to move out of an apartment building he bought and wanted to turn into a high-rent tower by banning Christmas trees in the lobby. In fact, that year Obama wished people "Merry Christmas" from his Twitter account and gave a video address with wife Michelle Obama in which he wished people a "Merry Christmas and happy holidays".

However, just a few years before he started spewing claims about America's lack of "Merry Christmas" greetings, Trump was actually telling people "Happy Holidays" instead.

Trump has often accused Obama of not saying "Merry Christmas" during the holiday season.

All that suggests that if there has been an "assault" on Christmas spirit as Trump claims, it certainly wasn't Obama saying 'Bah, humbug!'

The White House holidays under the Obamas had plenty of Christmas trappings and cheer.

"We're getting near that attractive Christmas season that people don't talk about anymore", Trump said.

Five percent of respondents said they prefer "Bah Humbug".

"Well, guess what? We're saying "Merry Christmas" again", he announced in October at a Values Voter Summit of conservatives.
