Billie Eilish says she 'bombed' her Oscars In Memoriam performance

Billie Eilish Admits the Internet Was 'Ruining Her Life' How Billie Eilish made her James Bond theme No Time To Die
Hannah Rogers | 19 February, 2020, 12:26

"I was sick for all of the Oscars, I bombed that performance", she told Zane Lowe on Apple's New Music Daily.

"I think even if it's your own face and your profile picture and it's your own name, it's still - everybody is much braver behind a cell phone screen than they would be if they walked down the street, you know?"

"It's like way worse than it's ever been right now...." She adds that the reason most people post hateful comments is that they think it's amusing. You're too hard, she's too hard.

Eilish also gave the debut performance of her "No Time To Die" Bond theme with Hans Zimmer, Johnny Marr and her brother Finneas O'Connell at the ceremony at The O2.

Eilish then stuttered and said "Lizzo", and the "Truth Hurts" hitmaker jumped up out of her seat to shout: "I love you".

I can't see it being the last time she performs in front of some of the most notable actors, given her involvement in the latest James Bond film.

She's picked up a shedload of Grammys, been selected as the next performer to record an iconic Bond theme, topped the Hottest 100, and basically become one of the most influential and beloved musicians in the game.

A few minutes after her performance, Eilish won her first BRIT award, for Best International Female Solo Artist. A problem is that a lot of it is really amusing.

But the singer, 18, has spoken out in a new interview with BBC Breakfast saying that negative comments on Instagram started to have a awful impact on her.

"When I heard the song I thought it was a very cool and smart choice".

"And every time I listen to the new song of yours I go on A to Z lyrics and I read it". "It's just the problem is I've always wanted to stay in touch with the fans and keep talking to them and, like, people have ruined that for me". "I still try to "like" fan posts or whatever and especially if I see fans anywhere, I just want to talk to them and be around them because they're people".

The 18-year-old pop superstar was overcome with emotion when she accepted the statuette from Spice Girl Melanie C and addressed the nasty comments she has been receiving on social media, which she said have "ruined" her life. Like, they're me... They're like other me's. "So, I turned it off".
