With eye on moon, NASA to seek new astronaut applicants in March

NASA Ames test system for Mission to Moon Trump asks for an increase in the budget With eye on moon, NASA to seek new astronaut applicants in March

Gaining new experiences on and around the Moon will prepare NASA to send the first humans to Mars in the mid-2030s.

In its annual budget request, which was released just this past Monday, the White House has requested that Congress increase NASA's funding to more than $25 billion in the 2021 fiscal year.

NASA Ames will benefit from the $25 billion being budgeted for the next fiscal year.

It additionally provides $four billion for continued improvement of the House Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft, which mixed shall be used to supply transportation of astronauts from Earth to the Moon.

NASA wants to land the first woman and the next man on the South Pole of the Moon by 2024 under its Artemis program.

In addition, $ 6.3 billion would go to science, including Earth sciences and astrophysics; $ 3.5 billion would finance security and mission services, as well as construction and environmental remediation; $ 1.6 billion would go to exploration technology; and $ 819 million would go to aeronautical research.

"We are pleased to see the top line increase in the President's FY 2021 Budget Request and applaud the Administration on its commitment to the Artemis program". The Artemis program is leading the agency for its first expedition to Mars, which is something that has not yet been done before.

However, despite the proposal, the White House may find it hard to garner approval from Congress for the cuts.

Once NASA has created a system where human beings can fully utilize the moon and increase the number of resources available, NASA will do the same with mars in the future.

NASA tweets Monday, "From the bridge in the lunar circle, astronauts will need a human landing system to get to and from the moon".

As the budget proposal makes its way through Congress, it is likely to be significantly tweaked.

However, the budget proposal sought the cancellation of two NASA telescopes, two Earth science satellites and STEM engagement efforts. "The budget continues to support educational activities such as internships and scholarships financed outside the STEM commitment office", the document says.

On the other hand, the Trump organization has also focused on the U.S. Space Force, the sixth part of the recently formed local army.

"I am confident the FY 2021 budget's proper investment in our agency's priorities, coupled with your unmatched talents and expertise, will strengthen our national posture for continued space preeminence and, as President Trump said during his State of the Union speech last week, help our nation embrace the next frontier".

To start this expedition, NASA will first make a few trips to the moon before going to Mars to better train astronauts and the scientists themselves to handle the harsh environments and make improvements before stepping into unknown territory like Mars.
