Wade Ormsby was a fugitive victor when he completed an impressive win from cable to cable in Fanling, closing with a 66 to finish in 17 low and four shots from Lowry, who signed with the low round of the last day. It was the third day in a row the Aussie had hit that score on the course, and the third victory for him on the Asian Tour.

Australian Wade Ormsby took the top prize with a 17 under par finish.

Wade Ormsby was a runaway victor as he finished a remarkable wire-to-wire triumph at Fanling, closing with a 66 to finish on 17 under as well as 4 shots clear of Lowry, that authorized off with the reduced round of the last day.

He and US Ryder Cup player Tony Finau left together on the last day six shots from Ormsby, and although Lowry improved his performance with a dazzling final, it was not enough to close the significant gap.

Lowry looked in the mood from the start, chipping in superbly from the bunker to birdie the first, with Finau making a smart putt to do the same.

The Australian did not get off to the best of starts when he stumbled with an opening bogey.

"I'm very happy with myself, but fair play to Wade, he's run away with it and didn't really give us a chance", claimed theIrishman "But I headed out there as well as did as long as I could".

Finau carded a 67 in his fourth round to finish seven shots off the pace.

"Obviously a little salty taste, but that won't last".

Ormsby, the 2017 champion, is bidding to win the tournament for the second time and he showed his resolve by putting up another solid performance with his two-day total of nine-under 131 to stay two shots ahead of India's SSP Chawrasia.

The Hong Kong Open was supposed to be the kickoff event of the 2019-20 European Tour season but was postponed after violence from anti-government protests escalated.
