Pres. Trump: I stand with the great police officers of Minneapolis

Phone calls with Trump more risky venture than diplomatic boon Pres. Trump: I stand with the great police officers of Minneapolis

President Donald Trump's Minneapolis campaign rally scheduled for Thursday at Target Center has raised several political, policing and public cost issues that demand answers.

Trump's rally in El Paso, Texas, earlier this year cost almost $500,000 for security and other costs.

The dispute erupted late Monday when the campaign accused Mayor Jacob Frey, a Trump critic, of trying to sink the rally.

"The Campaign can not be in breach of an obligation it does not owe to AEG", the campaign's lawyers argue in the letter.

The campaign said Mayor Jacob Frey, whom it dubbed a "radical leftist", had presented the Target Center with a "phony and outlandish bill for security" for the planned Keep America Great rally.

The Trump campaign alleges city government told the venue, the Target Center, that it would be responsible for security costs, causing the Target Center to try to pass the costs onto the campaign or else withhold use of the venue.

El Paso is just one of numerous cities that have outstanding invoices to the Trump campaign, even though the campaign has not reported any such debts to municipal governments or police departments in its federal filings, despite a law requiring the disclosure of all debts, including "disputed debts".

The Trump campaign has a history of not immediately paying charges billed by cities after rallies.

The Target Center's management, AEG Management TWN, has passed the fees onto the Trump campaign and threatened to bar them from the stadium unless they pay up.

Your letter of this morning on behalf of AEG threatening to terminate the rental contract at the last minute seems to rest on a representation by the City of Minneapolis that, without any apparent backup support, that "additional security and related costs" associated with the rally will be $530,000.

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks to supporters at a rally in Manchester on August 15, 2019 in Manchester, New Hampshire. Yet AEG's failure to deliver the Target Center on October 9 would be a breach of contract, and the Campaign will aggressively pursue all remedies available to it in law or equity - not to mention in the court of public opinion.

"The Campaign can not be in breach of an obligation it does not owe to AEG", the letter continues.

"Additionally, the ridiculous sum of $530,000 is more than 26 times the estimated security costs for a 2009 Target Center health care rally held by President Barack Obama", the campaign added.

It is obvious what is going on here. "While there is no legal mechanism to prevent the president from visiting, his message of hatred will never be welcome in Minneapolis". Bob Kroll, head of the police union, told Fox News that he found out about the ban soon after Trump announced the rally.
