North Korea confirms 2nd test of multiple rocket launcher

Trump blasts John Bolton for irking Kim Jong Un says ‘Mr. Tough Guy’ made ‘very big mistakes’ amid resignation fallout John Bolton quit the White House on Tuesday. Three of his top aides followed suit and quit Wednesday

Tuesday morning, South Korea's Joint Chief of Staff (JCS) said North Korea launched two unidentified projectiles from South Pyongan Province toward the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan.

North Korea is widely believed to want the United States to provide it with security guarantees and extensive relief from USA -led sanctions in return for limited denuclearization steps. A USA official confirmed then that North Korea launched short-range ballistic missiles, and said they appear to be similar to other recent launches.

Tuesday's launches were the eighth round of launches since late July and the first since August 24. Most of those are believed to be short-range missiles, and experts say they have shown impressive technological advancements.

Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui said Monday that North Korea was ready to come back to the table after repeated calls for talks by the U.S.

North Korea offered Monday to restart stalled nuclear negotiations with the US later this month but warned "dealings may come to an end" if the Americans don't bring something new to the table. "We are going to see what occurs". However, several people over social media have contended that North Korea actually fired three rockets."Here is something interesting".

"We're disappointed that he is continuing to conduct these short-range tests". A U.S. State Department spokesperson stated she didn't have any talks to announce at that time.

The steps Washington has so far offered North Korea publicly have fallen far short of Pyongyang's expectations.

"If the United States side toys with an old scenario that has nothing to do with the new method at working-level talks which would be held after difficulties, a deal between the two sides may come to an end".

She warned that "if the U.S. side fingers again the worn-out scenario which has nothing to do with new decision methods at the DPRK-U.S. working negotiation to be held with so much effort, the DPRK-U.S. dealings may come to an end".

Bolton has not been the only target of North Korean rhetoric.

Kim, who had guided the testing of the same multiple rocket launcher before, said its capabilities have been "finally verified in terms of combat operation", and what remains to be done with the rocket launcher is a "running fire test", KCNA said, without elaborating on what the test would entail.

Tuesday's test fulfilled its goal and allowed authorities to decide "the next-stage orientation to complete the weapon system", KCNA said. Trump has met with Kim multiple times over the past two years, although no concrete deal on the issue has been achieved.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un agreed in a June 30 meeting with US President Donald Trump to reopen working-level talks stalled since their failed February summit in Hanoi, but this has yet to happen in spite of repeated appeals from Washington.
