Apple: Your iPhone Is Secure, Google Is Just 'Stoking Fear'

Apple has tried to downplay concerns raised by Google about security vulnerabilities in iOS that could be exploited by malicious websites.
As it downplayed the impact of the vulnerabilities found by the Google researchers, Apple sought to reassure iPhone users about the security of their devices.
Apple has accused Google of "stoking fear among all iPhone users" by creating a "false impression" about the scale of the alleged iPhone hack it reported last month.
"Apple tends to perform well when it changes the design of the iPhone in a drastic way", said ABI Research analyst David McQueen, referencing the transition from the iPhone 5S to the iPhone 6. The iPhone maker strenuously objects to Google's claim that the attacks operated for two years.
Cupertino's statement comes more than a week after Google's Project Zero researchers published a blog post detailing how malware embedded in specific websites could steal large amounts of personal data off users' iPhones. To put this in perspective, Apple has already stated that they have been working on a foldable smartphone so this could be the direction the company is working on.
Apple released a statement addressing Google's blog about iOS exploits. While Google claims it gave Apple a "7-day deadline" (who knew companies could assign deadlines to one another?) to fix the exploit, Apple says it had been working on the problem before Google ever approached it.
The timeline of iOS hacks from Project Zero.
In a statement replying to Apple's statement, a Google spokesperson said, "We stand by our in-depth research which was written to focus on the technical aspects of these vulnerabilities".
Apple might have felt the need to have corrected Google because of its privacy campaign. "Our product security teams around the world are constantly iterating to introduce new protections". Security is also a centrepiece of Apple's first credit card, the Apple Card, which launched last month.
Google's Project Zero crew is targeted on discovering safety flaws in machine and hardware of all kinds and categories. "We will never stop our tireless work to keep our users safe".
So it's not surprising that Apple doesn't want Google to control the narrative of this particular exploit, since any publicity about iOS not being a solid ecosystem could cause some people to consider rival platforms, like Google's Android.
