Coutinho eager to live up to expectations after completing move to Bayern

Bayern Munich completed the loan signing of Brazil playmaker Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.

The Brazil worldwide playmaker will spend the 2019-20 campaign with the Bundesliga champions before a decision is made on a permanent transfer.

The 27-year-old Coutinho passed a medical examination and signed a contract through June 2020, when Bayern has the option of making the loan permanent.

How do you think Coutinho will fare in Germany?

They added: "FC Barcelona would like to publicly thank Philippe Coutinho for his commitment and dedication (and) wishes him all the best in this new stage of his career". "I learnt a lot, won a lot with that club and then we had the Copa América, which I won with Brazil and that was really important".

"Like FC Bayern, I have big ambitions and I'm convinced that I can achieve them together with my new teammates".

"We have been working with Philippe Coutinho for some time and are very happy that we were able to realize this transfer now", said Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "In Philippe, a player comes to FC Bayern who will strengthen our offensive with his creativity and excellent technique". In his first comments, the Brazilian made it clear he doesn't want to return to Barcelona next summer.

And now, Bayern president Uli Hoeness suggested the club had completed their player movement business for the summer with that group of signings.

La Blaugrana paid Liverpool an eye-watering £140m to land Coutinho in January 2018 and it has looked like awful business from the Catalans ever since.

He openly admitted to having fulfilled a childhood dream by securing a switch to the Liga giants, but his spell at Camp Nou has not played out as planned, though, amid struggles for consistency.
