Kotaku reports that Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf was streaming a Fortnite game late Sunday when he abruptly left his desk and abandoned the game with the livestream still running. The aim of swatting is either to disrupt the streamer or to cause harm to the streamer and their family.

In the middle of a stream, Giersdorf's dad tells him police are at the door.

Bugha returned to his friends and finished the game.

In a recorded video, Giersdorf's father can be heard telling the teen to stop playing the popular video game as police pulled up outside.

Fortunately, one of the officers who arrived at Bugha's house lived in the area and recognized the video game prodigy, averting any potential disaster.

But this weekend, Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf received a different kind of shock.

"Swatting" is a harassment tactic, in which someone reports an emergency at a perceived enemy's or rival's home in order to get police and SWAT teams to respond to the location. Giersdorf came back about 10 minutes later and told them that he "got swatted", and that the officers "came in with guns".

Police told ESPN that they believed the call came from Europe but did not provide any other details on the suspected "swatter". "What if I just got popped?" Since winning the Fortnite tournament and walking away with an wonderful $3 million (£2.4 million), Bugha has already faced hackers targeting his social media accounts - but this is the first (and hopefully only) time he's been swatted.

When Bugha came back to his game, he summed it up, "The internet's fucking insane!" In 2017, 28-year-old Andrew Finch was shot and killed by Kansas police after his address was given to the police in a swatting attempt.

Adeline Finch, 18, who was there when police raided the Finch household, died by suicide just over one year after witnessing her uncle's death, the Wichita Eagle reported.
